VANESSA “THE ATL BOMBSHELL “ WESTBROOK
Born in Brooklyn, New York & Raised in Decatur, Ga, Vanessa “The Atl Bombshell” Westbrook has lived a world wind life to say the least. Growing up a troubled kid who participated in gang activity which led her to getting put out of high school & later transferring to a new school to graduate. No one would have thought that her future would be this bright. Vanessa left all of that behind her when at 17 years old she was introduced to radio. She began interning at Atlanta’s Radio One where Vanessa was a part of anticipated events such as “Birthday Bash” & “The Dirty Awards”. After months of working in the promotions department she began assisting the producer of the Michael Baisden show.
She would later go on to enroll at Clark Atlanta University where she studied and earned her bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Arts. Her freshmen year she launched her very 1st blog which helped her establish connections with several entertainment figures in Atlanta and also gained her a show on the Atlanta University Centers (Morehouse, Clark Atlanta, Morris Brown, Spelman, ITC & Morehouse School of Medicine) Hip Hop & R&B Station WSTU 98.1FM. The award winning station reached over 9,000+ students daily. It was on that station where Vanessa would go on to have the 2nd highest rating show and due to ratings got a show extension from 2 hours to 4 hours. Vanessa’s show would be the only student produced and hosted show that held a 4 hour slot in the history of the station.
With Vanessa’s growing connections she was offered the position of Promotions Director of WSTU. In that role she did events for artists such as Day 26, Travis Porter, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, Young Dro, Cyhi The Prince, Rasheeda ( Love & Hip Hop), Verse Simmonds, Shanell (Young Money), Rich Kids, Roscoe Dash, Sammie, Jumping The Broom (Cast), & many others. She also worked with labels such as T.I.’s Grand Hustle, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music, Flo’Rida’s Strong Arm/IMG, Warner Music Group, Street Exec’s/Porter House & Many Others. After her stint as promotions director she was promoted to Program Director, making her the 2nd female in the 15 year history of the station to hold this title. Vanessa also received an offer from Def Jam Records to be their Atlanta College Marketing Rep. with the label she has done grass roots marketing campaigns for artists such as Rick Ross, Neyo, Fabolous, B Smyth, & Many Others. She was later given the task of setting up all campus promo & events in the AUC for then little known singer, August Alsina.
Her Promotions & Marketing experience made room for her in many industries outside of just Radio & Music. She has worked in film & television for Screen Gems in the casting department as their Casting Promotions Assistant. Working on shows such as “ The Game “ , “ Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” , “ Kandi Factory” & Many Others. She later transitioned into working in the Fashion & Modeling industry for world renowned Modeling school Barbizon School Of Modeling. She then made her way into the Hair & Beauty industry working for several major brands producing advertorials & radio spots, writing blog features that have been placed on major blog platforms, setting up opportunities for product placement, connecting with some of the top major beauty bloggers (nationally & internationally), coordinating photoshoots, campaign development & event planning & execution.
